Progress

Lots to catch up on.

First and foremost it is my anniversary!!!  3 fantastic years with the most fantastic man!!!!

This is us for New Years Eve when he still had his manly man beard.  I love that man.

After that lovely event we had a panic with our sweet Fred...he got very very very sick and we were so worried, but quick fix, it was only his food, and he is now back to his fabulous self..
Could he be any cuter??  I think not.

Now on to the house...
We picked brick we LOVED LOVED LOVED thanks to my friend B.  Well unlucky to us, it is an antique brick which would end up costing us $2500-$3000 more than we are budgeted for..

It's beautiful we know, and it is one thing we agreed upon no questions asked.  BUT, there are other bricks we also like so I would rather spend that $3000 on something else, like, landscaping, or furniture, or clothes :) j/k

We do have a new development though..  On the way back from the gym this morning Beau texted me this beaute...
(ignore the roof) but that wood?  That fresh new, clean, and spry wood, that's ours!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So I then bugged him beyond belief to go and get a better shot

Hello beautiful, momma loves you!  Tonight before dinner we are going to go and do the first official walk through of our house!  I am so excited!  Hopefully it will still be daylight enough for pictures.  Hope you are all having a great day.

Sunday funday

Such an exciting weekend!!  First, I was off on Friday, thank you baby Jesus!!!  I took off because we went to Millie and Devin's wedding, it was amazing.

The boys went shoot skeet the morning of the wedding.  I must admit, I was highly a little nervous about Beau handling a gun.  You see my husband is quite the metro-sexual, and while I grew up with a gun in my hands sans utero, I wasn't too confidant about Beau.  But apparently he did great!!  And he looked delicious doing so!

Millie and Dev were supposed to get married outside at this beautiful botanical garden on a lake, but when we woke up Friday it was that miserable rainy/misty grey weather.  The wedding was supposed to start at 4:30 so that they could catch the sunset on the lake, well at 3:45 they had to make the call to have the wedding inside where the reception is being held or outside.  It was still raining so they decided to have it inside, it could not have been more wonderful;  it was the most intimate wedding I have ever been to, everything was glorious. The second Millie walked in the door we all surrounded them and were really a part of the wedding. The Pastor's words were so touching and personal, and then, they wrote their own vows.  Well needless to say the tears flew freely.
Also, our friends Allie and Jake were there, they moved back to Nola months ago and we had not seen them much since, I am looking forward to reconnecting with that crew.

Saturday we woke up at what seemed the butt crack of dawn, and at 9 a.m. it became official and my hubby received his master's degree in music!!!

I am so so proud of him!!  He is already talking about getting his doctorate.  He will have enough schooling for him, me, and the kids we are not having! After graduating and eating a meal that could have weighed down a camel we drove back to Nola so Beau could go to work..he was a tad sleepy on the way home..

haha!!!  I love it!!

Saturday night, I don't know if you heard..but...ULL won the New Orleans bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  OMG I am so proud to be a Ragin Cajun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing new about the house.  We still have dirt, and it has been smoothed, but I think it is going to be a week before we can start doing more.  Hopefully at the start of the new year we will be in full effect.  What we have been doing is looking at landscaping, I think we found one that we really like, I feel like we could do it ourselves but Beau says "NO".  Very matter-a-factly.  Just how I say "NO" when he says we could move ourselves.  Little give, a little take :) Here is the landscaping we like..

This morning I was drawing on our house plans to see what it would look like with the foliage.  (I am not the artist of this relationship by far)
Our house will be 99.9% brick.  We both like that.  If you would have asked me 2 years ago, I would have said never.  But, we just bought and sold a house that was all brick, it was built in 1955 and solid as a rock.  (and when you live near New Orleans you want something as strong as you can get it, if I had the money I would live in an all concrete home, huff and puff and you still ain't blowing my shit down)
I apologize for the appearance of the floor plan but I couldn't get it, so rather than slit my wrist and throw the computer out of the window I just decided to take a picture of it on my phone.  So there you go.  Hope you all have a wonderful rest of the day!  The Saints are winning, so all is right in the world :)

December to Remember

First of all I would like to apologize for the chaos that is this blog.  I am not sure how to do anything fancy at all.  I just love how some blogs are so amazing looking and when you put your mouse over a part of a sentence that is blue it actually links you to somewhere else.  Will you find any of that here...no, but if some wonderful person would like to teach me, bring it on!

So, I am Emily.  I wanted to do something to help me remember things and memories I have.  I thought about a journal but decided against it.  I love the thought of a journal, just like I love the thought of getting up early, putting on a wonderfully comfy robe, sit at my dining room table with a cup of delicious coffee and read the paper with my husband sitting across from me.  But that shit is not happening.  My mornings look like the flight of the bumble bee, I should be in the Guinness Book of World Records for how fast I can move and how much I can accomplish from the time I get up to the time I walk out of the door.

Here is a little background for you.
  • November of 2008 Beau and I buy our first house
  • January 2009 Beau and I get married

  • August 2010 Beau and I move back to my hometown and he gets his master's
  • December 1 2011 I move back to the Neaux-la (Nola/New Orleans) area and start working
  • December 1 2011 we sell our house back in my hometown and Beau joins me

We are currently living with his sister and her fiance' and their 5 cats, and our 1 cat, Fred.
Fred is the love of our lives.  That is him doing his George Costanza.

**Side note:  I get off subject and side tracked more than most, so I apologize.

We are in the process of building our first, eh, second house.  (long story)  So far we have met with the builder one time: picked a plan, rearranged the plan, and again, and again, and again, picked paint colors, picked what the interior door would look like (4 panels, 6 panels, 2 panels --we went with the 2 panels) and we also picked what the color of the window frame would be.  You know that thing...

On this picture it is white, it is what separates the panes of the actual glass.  Well we put a very dark bronze color for ours.  I let Beau pick that, I keep going back and forth whether or not I like the color he picked.  Those things were kind of boring, I can't wait to pick out the more fun stuff.  I already told him to not put up any of those sheet mirrors, I plan on going to some place divine aka ross/marshall's/tj maxx and getting some framed mirrors for dirt cheap and putting those up!

Beau wants brick flooring in the kitchen so the builder said any money we save from not putting the mirrors up he will apply towards the floor.  Yes please!

I recently became addicted a member of crack Pinterest.  I can't wait to use all the cute ideas for our new house.  Whenever my builder ask me what I like, I always send him some kind of Pinterest picture.  I think I am going to create him and account to follow me just so that we are all on the same page...my page :)

Yesterday they delivered the dirt.  A big ole pile of dirt and we couldn't be happier!  Time to get this show on the road, 6 cats, 1 litter box, well there is 2 but Fred feels the need to go along with the crowd and use the communal potty, anyway, it's a lot of poo none the less.  I guarantee my boy goes the most.  Poor thing takes after his dear old dad :)

But I just know we are going to have the best time living with Beau's sister and her sweet soon to be.  They are so much fun, and we love doing the same things.  We are very lucky that they have invited us to stay with them while we are going through the building process.

Well that is enough for one day.  Have a great day!  Our besties are getting married tomorrow so we will be back in my home town!!  So excited!
